This post is as personal as it can get. I’m a writer and I doing this because I understand the struggle and it’s not easy at all. Being a writer in this age and time is one of the most demanding occupations and even talent. This is because literally everything right now needs to be written.
You need a writer with basic HTML knowledge to help you write codes, you need a writer to help you create content for you blog, website and all that, you need a writer to write a song for you, a writer to draw budgets for you…You need a writer for everything these days and you know the most annoying thing? These same writers that are needed for all these million things are not even appreciated and well paid. Yes, I said it.
Writing is a different ball game and it is very difficult. There’s so much to write about and just two hands and one brain. Writing books comes up as a very complicated thing to do because your ideas must match and must sync so your readers don’t get lost. In the same way, writing contents for companies and individuals is also very demanding. This, in a way is much more complicated than even writing a book. This is because, while a book is just a continuous stretch of one idea, contents cannot be a continuous stretch of one idea. You are expected to write something new every single time. This is where the writers’ block comes in.
Like I said earlier, you only have one brain and two hands, and you can’t have all the ideas in the world in your head at the same time. Writers’ block is a situation whereby as a writer, you do not know what to write. It can come in many situations. Sometimes, you could have an idea but not know how to frame it to make appropriate sense. Other times, you might take up your writing materials and sit down there, looking at the space and waiting for inspiration to hit you from nowhere. Some other very funny times, you begin to write something and midway into your writing, you lose it all and begin to write absolute nonsense.
Yes, writers’ block is a thing and it is very real. So, when creatives (writers specifically) complain that they don’t know what to write and people begin to say they aren’t serious or well versed or consistent, I feel like it’s my sole responsibility to remind these people that if it were that easy to come up with contents, they wouldn’t be needing the services of a writer in the first place.
Writers are very underappreciated and overworked and, in a world, where they are the most important middlemen between their clients and their clients’ target audience/customer, this is very wrong and does not encourage anyone to continue as a writer. Writers’ block can be called an occupational hazard and in those moments. Writers can begin to doubt if they are really writers. It’s funny because you can be completely blocked out from any inspiration for days and you wouldn’t know what to do or say.
This is for all the writers that would read this post. You are too important and if you ever get a job that doesn’t take care of you completely, you can leave. Like I said, if it were easy, nobody would be employing the services of a writer. You are gold and you are rare.
Thanks for reading.
