I am beginning to see a new trend in workplaces most especially for engineers and I am very concerned about our senior engineers who believe they have advanced and attained a certain position, soo, no need to explore other areas. A strong wave is coming that will render you guys redundant in no time.
I have noticed that new sets of engineers joining the engineering workforce are very dynamic and ambitious. If care is not taken, these guys will oust out these so called senior engineers who have refused to blend with the fast paced society we are
I have been in an environment where most of the registered engineers with masters degrees are “junior” engineers while the senior engineer believe there is no need for such qualifications. Nobody is doubting their competencies, but competencies without certificates is still not relevant in nigeria
Another thing is that, if you find yourself working under these guys, be assured that they are going to slow you down, not only with their traditional methods, but with the stories upon stories of how they did things in the past when best practices had not been introduced
So, if as an organization, you notice that your junior engineers are resigning rapidly, check on your senior engineers, they might have failed in meeting expectations.
