So I came across an old 2016 rebuttal by a university in the south explaining why a student with high Jamb score did not make the cut off point to study medicine.
Essentially, this Don said 45% of the admission is done on merit. 35% on catchment area and 20% reserved for educationally disadvantaged states. These educationally disadvantaged states include ALL the northern states and about 3 southern states.
So in essence, few years from now, 20% of the medical doctors that graduate from that university are technically not smart enough to be doctors, they are glorified quacks with certificates. That’s for universities in the south.
The universities in the north will be filled with barely 45% who are admitted on merit. The remaining 55% will be filled with people who should not be found near universities. The recent case happened in ABU.
Do you now understand why some northern lawyers are queuing behind hell-rufai? The cut-off point for many of these same people that are guaranteed 20% admission -irrespective of how low their scores are – to enter into secondary schools are as low as 2/300. That is two marks out of 300marks.
Few years down the line, same 20% will be given top positions -this time based on a different quota system. This quota system is supposed to represent the artificial construct that the north has more people than the south.
That is how the 20% end up giving orders to the intellectually superior 80% or at worst 45%. They cheat you at every single point. When it comes to sharing money, they use landmass to create local governments and thus the north has more LGs than the south and takes the lion share of the money they contribute NOTHING to.
You see why Nigeria kept sliding from 1960 to the point where a buhari who never sat for his WAEC suddenly became “eminently qualified” according to a Tanko CJN whose own certificate was eaten by termites?
You had a useless constitution, it expired in 2014. It’s time we the people draft another one.
Prepare to walk away or get ready for the jihadist of the 20% to introduce you to their machetes and AK’s.., the choice is yours but the consequences.
