Now that you are a graduate, there are a lot of things you can do. Being in school limits you in a way, especially your movement. Therefore, as a graduate, you are meant to move around a little more, explore, learn, network and become a better person. Better than the person you were in school. Below are some of the things you can do as a graduate…
1. Teach others: I’m not saying you should goa and build a school and start employing teachers oh. It’s just a small way of giving back to the society. There’s a lot of people that need that knowledge you have and for one reason or the other, they can’t get it. topping the list of the reasons is finances. You know the amount of money you spent in school studying a 4-year course, right? Some people cannotafford it but they have a lot of information in their heads that is either incomplete or incorrect and you that’s a graduate can help to teach these people. Make them a little better than they were before you graduated from school. The first few weeks after your graduation, there is a 70% assurance that you will be very jobless and bored. Why don’t you begin to teach children some things you have learnt?
2. Apply for scholarships: you might not get any even at your 20th attempt but, that’s why you can try and try again. if you really want to do a great job at anything, you have to try and try until you get what you want exactly. Scholarships avail you opportunities to travel and learn new things. This is only if you’re really a school person. For some people, their first degree is enough for the time being and they are not interested in any schooling till further notice. But, for you who is very interested in academia, this is one thing you can use to keep yourself busy.
3. Intern: graduate interns are in high demand lately. You get paid for learning new things. This is an opportunity to learn, network and still get paid. It’s the opposite of going to school. If you’re lucky, you might get into one of those really big organizations that are very particular about training the best people. That is how you get trained and you learn everything to prepare you for a better life.
4. Travel: this option is open to everybody. Especially those who want to see the world and learn a few things here and there. Travelling brings you in contact with different people and different cultures. If you don’t travel, you’ll probably learn all about them on the tv or the radio but, it’s a different thing when you actually go all the way to these places. You don’t have to have millions before you travel. All you need do is have a little savings for your transport and some extra money so you don’t just travel and sit in one place. What’s the fun in that? Also, you can travel from state to state in a country. This reduces the amount you spend on long distance traveling and still brings you in contact with as much people as you need.
5. Learn a skill: learn something new to add to your knowledge. Nobody knows it all and someday, the new skill you learnt might just be needed at a very important event. Plus, you can also teach people some of the skills you already learnt while they pay for your teaching. In this way, you are making some money and also imparting knowledge in these people.
