In what looked like a repetition of the administrative errors of 2017 during the appointments of persons into the boards of the Federal Government agencies, President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed another dead person into the Board of the Federal Character Commission (FCC).
The late appointee was the pioneer Majority Leader of Ebonyi State House of Assembly and former member of the House of Representatives, Tobias Chukwuemeka, who represented Ezza South/Ikwo Federal Constituency, between 2011 and 2015.
The President, relying on Section 154 (1) of the 1999 Constitution as amended, Tuesday announced the appointment of 38 persons to the FCC Board and asked the Senate to confirm the appointees.
The appointees included Chukwuemeka among other 37 others.
Chukwuemeka, who was born in Amudo Community in Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, had died on February 28, 2020 at the age of 59.
Efforts by MyNewsBite to get the reactions of the presidency on the matter proved abortive as calls put through to the presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina, returned unanswered.
