2010: I graduated from FUTA, anxious about my future. Engaged senior colleagues via email and on social media but got no response. Got no help. Had no mentor. Had no one to ask for directions. I had to find my way in the dark on my own. Lost 48 scholarships in total but managed to win 7 (4 national, 3 international).
2019: Graduated with a PhD degree in Environmental Geochemistry and Geomicrobiology from the prestigious University of Manchester, UK (ranked 25th in the world). Sat in the chair as a fresh PhD holder, surrounded by my supportive research colleagues (see attached photo). Ended up bagging the highly competitive Commonwealth scholarship twice! Now I have become the mentor I didn’t have 9 years ago, and created a platform to lead several youths to their glory.
Your dreams are valid.
Never give up.
