I must admit, it was difficult at first to transition from my regular routine to a lockdown routine. My mind has always been accustomed to structure and boundaries for me to find balance between work and play. So, when it became mandatory to stay at home and I still had to school and work at home, it was a struggle. Home for me had always been for rest, chill and play while everything work related happened outside.
It took a moment of introspection to realize that I had to cultivate a different lifestyle that adapted to my new reality if I wanted to remain fulfilled and achieve balance. So, I decided that if I’m going to be at home all day, then home is going to have to become everything I need it to be. The simple resolution was to assign different sections of the house to my different activities.
Now, going into week 5 of staying home, with the first 2 weeks spent basically floating and the last 2 weeks finally settled in, I’m looking forward to a more productive, enjoyable and fun experience.
The biggest lesson for me so far is: While I’m my biggest cheerleader, I’m more so my biggest critic because self-discovery and evolution start with a willingness to question oneself, thus birth change.
